George A. Dickel was a successful merchant in Nashville, TN when he entered the whisky business in 1816. Preferring to craft his whisky in the winter months rather than the summer months, Dickel believed the result was smoother and began advertising their whisky as “Mellow as Moonlight”.

After he perfected his whisky, his reputation for the smoothest, most mellow spirit in the region grew in the region. George A. Dickel and Co. honor their Scottish roots, even spelling whisky without the letter “e”. Each whisky is chilled before it goes through a charcoal-mellow filtration in Lincoln County Press. This limited edition release blends George Dickels column still rye produced at Cascade Hollow Distillery and the Leopold Bros Three Chamber Rye. Heavy-bodied, thisrye whiskey harkens back to an era where this type of whiskey was served in saloons and bars throughout the USA. This caramel-colored rye is rich with aromas of nutmeg, dark fruits, apples and spice. The palate is medium to full bodied and warm with juicy orchard fruits, oak, caramel, citrus, vanilla and intense rye spice with light notes of vanilla and chocolate. The finish is long and spicy, with a balancing sweet honey fading into oak.
