Flor de Cana was first unofficially established in 1890, when founder Francisco Alfredo Pellas Canessa and others celebrated the harvest by making small quantities of rum. After over 130 years and 5 generations, Flor de Cana still operates their production at the base of a volcano. Flor de Cana produces their liqueur sustainably, focusing on carbon neutrality and fair trade.
Flor de Cana Spresso is distilled with 100% renewable energy and is produced in compliance with rigorous standards including labor, social, and environmental. Awarded a Silver medal at the 2019 San Francisco World Spirit Awards, it is currently known as the only spirit produced both Fair Trade and carbon neutral. The rum used to make the coffee liqueur is aged naturally using the heat of the volcano and bourbon barrels wrapped in plantain leaves. With no need for accelerants, the result is filled with tropical flavors and a deep amber color. This coffee liqueur is tamer than others and offers rich notes of coffee, walnut and banana.
