It now belongs to the Chivas Brothers. The name ‘A’bunadh’, translated from Gaelic, means ‘the original’ and pays tribute to the founder James Fleming. The term ‘Alba’ stands both for ‘Quercus Alba’, the American white oak used for the casks, and for the Gaelic name of Scotland.
A’bunadh Alba single malt is matured exclusively in selected American white oak casks that previously contained bourbon. This process gives the whisky its unique character.
The malt is bottled at cask strength and does not undergo chill-filtration in order to preserve its pure and strong taste.
