The group was founded in 1948 by Mr. Radhakrishna Jagdale, initially as a small liquor blending and bottling plant.
Amrut Whisky prides itself on being the first single malt whisky from India. Its name means something like “nectar of the gods/life” and reflects the exceptional quality and enjoyment of this whisky.
This Amrut is a single cask bottling and matures in casks previously used to store Port wine. Only the best Indian grains from the foothills of the Himalayas are used and distilled in small batches according to ancient Indian tradition to retain the natural flavors
The distillate is then stored in oak barrels in tropical conditions at an altitude of about 1000 meters in Bangalore.
