Unofficially, the Ardbeg distillery has been distilling since 1794 – in 1815, the distillery was bought by John McDougall and officially opened under the name Ardbeg.
“Ardbeg” comes from Gaelic and translates as “little hill”.
The distillery is located on the south coast of the whisky region Islay.
This Ardbeg Whisky is named after a very remote and lonely area with the cape “Mull of Oa”, which stretches as a headland along the island.
The special feature of this whisky is definitely its maturation before blending.
The whiskies contained are stored in the sweetish PX sherry cask, in the spicy Virgin Oak cask and in the American oak cask.
