In 1886, the family took over the brewery in Appenzell, which is still a well-known brewery and distillery today. In 1999, the production of Saentis Malt in beer barrels was started. Shortly after, in 2002, the first product appeared on the market and the distillery went down in history as a pioneer of Swiss whisky production. Due to the excellent whiskies, the brewery received the Whisky Destillery 2011 award.
