AnCnoc (pronounced “a-nock”) is a Scotch whiskey brand produced at the Knockdhu Distillery in the Scottish Highlands. The history of Knockdhu Distillery dates back to 1894, when it was founded by John Morrison. Over the years, the distillery has maintained its traditional production methods, including the use of copper pot stills and traditional perennial warehouses for aging. At the request of Justerini & Brooks, the 12-year-old Knockdhu was renamed AnCnoc to avoid confusion with J&B’s Knockando.
Throughout the Scottish Highlands, but particularly in the north and west, is the heart of the peat bogs. Remote but rich in iconic wildlife, this environment dominates the landscape and provides a valuable contribution to whisky production. Peat, a natural resource used to dry the barley. The phenolic content ‘PPM’ (parts per million) can be controlled by the amount of peat burned.
The third bottling of AnCnoc Peatheart is aged, like Batch 1 and 2, in former American oak bourbon casks. This exquisite whiskey is bottled without the addition of colorants and without chill filtration.
