Vineyard Notes

The majority of Royal Tokajis vineyards are in the Md commune. These include the First Growths Szt. Tams, Nyulsz, Betsek, and the Second Growth Birsalms. Royal Tokajis Mzes Mly vineyard a Great First Growth lies within the Tarcal commune. At the end of the 17th century, Tokaji asz wines were so well regarded throughout the Courts of Europe that Prince Rkczi insisted on a classification of the finest vineyards around the 28 villages in the region into: Great First Growths, First Growths, Second Growths and Third Growths. For over 300 years this special terroir has benefited from Botrytis to produce world class wines.

Winemaking

Fine quality Asz berries with good structure and perfect botrytis were macerated in fermenting must for two days.

Ageing

After pressing and finishing fermentation the wines were filled into 300 and 500 litre Hungarian oak casks in our extensive, deep, underground cellars to mature for over two years.
