Although this appears as the ‘house’ non-vintage, in character it is more akin to a vintage wine that needs some time on cork. Tasted young, the saturated fruitapricot, spiced apples, grilled lemonsis already expressive, yet not fully unsprung. Based on 2018 with 40% reserves back to 2016, the heat of 2018 is in the fruit profile rather than weight or grip, and is more about persistence than pure power, underlined by the oak levage yet not coloured by it. 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay from Ambonnay, Bouzy and Verzenay. 100% barrel fermentation. The NV Extra-Brut Grand Cru (2017) base is rich, creamy and wonderfully expressive. Dark red plum, spice, coffee, cedar, dried flowers and a kick of toastiness wrap around the palate. The Grand Cru offers notable depth and tons of unbridled class. I would give this a year or two in bottle. It is a stellar NV offering. Dosage is 2 grams per liter. Disgorged: September, 2022. With a 2017 base, the NV Champagne Grand Cru Brut has 50% reserve from 2014-2016. It pours a medium golden hue and offers aromas of biscuit, yellow flowers, orchard peaches, and pineapple. The palate is medium to full-bodied, and it has a broad texture as well as an energetic and pillowing mousse. With a savory saline edge and richness, its broad but has long concentration.
