Liam Hughes and Mike Hayward set themselves the goal of bringing the tradition of single malt whisky distillation back to Glasgow and founded “The Glasgow Distillery Company Ltd”. This name pays tribute to one of Scotland’s first licensed distilleries, which was established back in 1770. Operating under different names over the years, the original Glasgow Distillery Company produced a variety of whiskies, including unpeated, peated and triple-distilled single malts, until its closure in 1902.

The establishment of the new distillery marks the beginning of the realization of its mission to firmly re-establish the production of high-quality spirits in Glasgow.

Glasgow 1770 Peated is an intensely smoky single malt Scotch whisky, with Scottish concert barley smoked with Highland peat up to 50 ppm. Careful distillation in copper pot stills with water from Loch Katrine and maturation in American wild oak and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks give it its characteristic profile. Bottled at 46%, without chill filtration and in its natural color, it captivates with notes of sweet BBQ smoke, toffee, dark fruits and a hint of spice on the finish.
