2020 Fico Wine ‘Fico’, Tuscany, Italy

In 2015 Filippo Corsini produced the first vintage of Fico, a biodynamic wine inspired by his travels during a year abroad. Filippos vision was to create a completely natural wine which, from start to finish, is never touched by chemicals or preservatives

The vines chosen for Fico,are nestled close to an ancient fig tree in a distinct area in the center of one of Villa le Cortis vineyards named ‘Gugliaie’. It was this fig tree that inspired Filippo to name this wine, fig or ‘fico’. These vines yield fruit with an excellentbalance of flavor and structure, reflecting the taste of the earth,a calcareous earth,claylike and rich with fossils.

At Le Corti, the wines produced by the Corsini family are certificated organic wines but with Ficothey wanted to take it a step further, a step towards a different type of agriculture. They wanted to look at the cultivation of the vines, the harvesting of the grapes and the making of the wine as a cohesive interconnected living system, closer to the tenants of ecological self sufficiency and the practice of bio-dynamics.
