100% Catarratto. De Bartoli’s Catarratto vines are not on the home estate in Samperi contrada in Marsala but slightly north in the province of Trapani. These 2 hectares of 20-year-old vines are planted on sandy loam soils on flat land, organically farmed and hand-harvested. The whole clusters are cooled down and pressed gently; the must is naturally settled for 48 hours before a spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts and a tiny bit of sulfur in stainless steel tanks. The fully dry wine is aged on its fine lees in steel for 7 months and bottled with a light, non-sterile filtration. “Lucido” is named for a less-common sub-variety of Catarratto (which takes its name from its shiny skins) and is bottled as an IGT Terre Siciliane.
