2023 Selene Beaujolais Primeur (Nouveau), France

Sylvre Trichard is a young vigneron who lives in the small hamlet of Blac, a village in the Southern part of Beaujolais, just east of the hills of Brouilly. In 2012, after interning with Domaine Belluard in Savoie and working at Domaine Lapalu in Beaujolais, Sylvre took over his uncle’s 4ha of vines. Since 1998, the 4ha had been farmed organically and biodynamically under the previous domaine called Domaine de Fully.

The estate, with a surface of 6ha, is divided into two sections. One part is in front of Sylvre’s house with a soil composed of silt and clay and a gentle slope going towards a small stream. The other part is within the village’s zone and made of sand and granite. The vines’s age range from 20 to 80 years old.

Sylvre is a dedicated vine grower eager to create excellent natural wines. Deeply attached to the land and his family, Sylvre returned to biodynamic farming in 2018. His wines go through semi-carbonic maceration and are aged mostly in concrete vats or large wooden casks. The wines are bottled without fining, filtration or SO2 when feasible.
