This liqueur owes its name not only to its raw material, rose petals, but also to the Latin “ros solis”, which means “sundew”.

Rosolio, also called the “liqueur of the past” because of its very ancient origins, began to spread at the end of the 17th century.

It was first produced in convents, where nuns macerated rose petals in alcohol to make a liqueur for important guests. In the course of a few years, it became the “ladies’ liqueur” used to celebrate christenings, engagements and weddings. Thanks to its particular and elegant aroma and its very “feminine” taste, it can be considered then as now the liqueur for greeting and conversation.
