Brendel was created with a mission to produce high-quality, organic, and affordable Napa Valley wines that stay true to the grapes and the storied soils they come from. Purity drives everything the brand does, starting with Leon Brendel, whom the wines pay homage to, and continuing through today’s team and winemaking practices. In the 1950’s, Leon bought a small plot of land to make one variety, Grignolino, a grape that could only be found in northern Italy at the time. This vineyard was sold to Joe Heitz with the promise to always preserve a small amount of Grignolino, a commitment that McCoy and the Lawrence family continue to honor. In the vineyard, cellar, and bottle, Brendel keeps intentions pure in making wine that stays true to the land, one’s roots, and most importantly, oneself.
