According to legend, the story of the famous Negroni began in 1919, when the charismatic Count Camillo Negroni entered the Cafe Casoni in Florence and asked bartender Fosco Scarselli to “strengthen” his Americano. Scarselli decided to replace the soda in the classic Americano with gin, creating a new, stronger drink.

From then on, the Count always ordered “the usual,” and soon other guests emulated his preference by requesting the “Conte Negroni Style Americano.” This demand gave rise to the now-famous Negroni, a cocktail made with bitters, vermouth, and gin.
