James Suckling 98 Points:Perhaps the nerviest, stoniest chardonnay from the rightly famous Hyde Vineyard, this wine is compact, concentrated, and potentially age-worthy. Subtle apple skin, mineral, butterscotch, and Bosc pear flavors combine on an almost steely palate of good acidity and a medium body. It keeps opening up in the glass and revealing more on the palate and lingering finish. Only the second vintage from this new producer. Drinkable now, but best from 2028. TWI 97 Points:The 2022 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard, bottled in December 2023, rolls out of the glass with expressive notes of baking bread, sea spray, and marzipan giving way to a core of apple butter, spiced pears, and green guava. The medium to full-bodied palate has a gorgeous satiny texture, with seamless freshness supporting the intense apple and pear flavors, finishing long and savory.
