Adam Hannett, the lead distiller, has the privilege of choosing from a variety of over 200 different cask types. For Octomore 14.2, he made a decision that was as bold as it was masterful. He chose former Oloroso and Amarone barrels from the most renowned wine-growing regions of Spain and Italy. These casks bring a nutty sweetness that contrasts excitingly with the powerful peat smokiness of Octomore. The final blend, after a 5-year maturation, took place in French oak to add depth and complexity to this single malt. This whiskey is bottled without the addition of colorants as well as without cold filtration.
