During these long sea voyages to Europe, it was noticed that rum changed and evolved over time, often improving when it reached the cooler climates of Europe. A fascinating experiment began in which premium Caribbean rum was barrel-aged using the craftsmanship of Scotch whisky producers and the ideal aging conditions of Scotland. Distilled in the Dominican Republic, this Ron Larimar 5 Years Old Small Batch Rum spends at least five years in ex-Kentucky bourbon barrels and is finally finished in first-fill bourbon barrels, also from Kentucky.
