These specially selected casks, made from a rare type of oak, are crucial to the development of the whisky’s unique characteristics in terms of color and taste.
The staves of the casks are first dried in the Mediterranean sun before experienced coopers assemble and toast them. This preparation is followed by maturation with Oloroso sherry before the casks are transported to Tamdhu for final maturation. During storage, the young new-make spirit interacts with the American oak of the sherry cask, resulting in the development of rich fruity aromas and a deep, natural amber color.
The result is a whisky that not only impresses with its depth of flavor and complexity, but also with an extraordinary bouquet that takes the senses on a journey through the tradition and innovation of the Tamdhu Distillery.
