These special casks have been built up over two decades to offer whisky connoisseurs unique and limited bottlings.
One of these rarities is the Burnside 18 Years Old, a fascinating blended malt whisky from the renowned Balvenie Distillery. As a minimal amount of another malt has been added to this whisky (“teaspooning”), it cannot be declared as a single malt, but only as a blended malt – a common practice to protect the brand names of the distilleries.
This special bottling matured for 18 years in a first fill sherry hogshead, allowing an intense and harmonious variety of aromas to develop. The first fill sherry cask influence gives the whisky a deep, fruity sweetness paired with a warm, nutty complexity.
